This blog contains experiences and experiments with my solar telescope. I currently own a Lunt LS50THa Hydrogen Alpha telescope and take images with an Altair GPCAM2 130M camera, dispersion prism (to remove Newton's rings) and a barlow lens element.

20/08/2017 AR2671 First animation attempt
My first attempt at an animation, cut a bit short due to cloud. Not great due to newtons rings and poor polar alignment giving image rotation.
20/08/2017 AR2671
Today the clouds stayed away so I could complete the mosaic, AR2671 is looking good, also looks like another AR is just coming around the limb.

19/08/2017 AR2671
Unfortunately there wasn't a big enough gap in the clouds to complete the mosaic today, however AR2671 has grown over the last two days since I last observed it.

Lunt LS50THa, ASI120MM + SW 2x Barlow element 6 pane mosaic.
The next two closeups were a bit of an experiment, combining the 2x barlow element with a 3x barlow element for bigger closeups of a prominence and the active region. Though the seeing was reasonable I think they are pushing the LS50THa a bit far.
